Sun Holes is Norm
Berketa's current musical project. To date, he has written and
recorded over 500 songs. Sun Holes, like most of Norm's previous
projects, is a solo endeavour.
Norm works out of
his digital recording studio, NMB
Productions, located in Ottawa, Canada. His multi-track
recording experience began in 1982 with a Teac 4-track analog
cassette recorder. He started making his own music after his band,
Silent Q, broke up after a successful run in and around the Ottawa
area. Silent Q played ska and reggae with a touch of rock. Most of
their songs were original compositions, penned by Norm and bandmate
Paul Seale.
Norm occasionally
played in different bands between 1982 and 2014, such as The
Initiatives, Audio Army, The Lonesome Devils and a revamped version
of The Townsmen, an Ottawa-based recording band from the 1960's.
Norm's last
musical project, Deadlivestock,
was also a solo endeavour, but featured guest performers over the
years. Deadlivestock was his longest-running musical project to so
far, which included 4 CDs of original material. They included a
one-hour instrumental CD entitled "Epica", a tribute CD
created to honour his biggest musical influences, Mike Oldfield,
Klaatu and Alan Parsons.
Sun Holes was born
in January of 2012.

Berketa is excited to announce that Sun Holes finally has a song on
the radio! Algonquin College radio station CKDJ 107.9FM has added
"Keep Our Eyes Open" to its playlist. The song is from the
2015 release "Last Day On Earth". CKDJ is a student-run
radio station that only plays songs from Ottawa area bands. You can
listen to the song and the entire album on Bandcamp.
